That's right, above is a picture of ME with my very first teddy bear, handmade by my Grandmother Donna.
I love TRADITION. Especially ones that are specific and unique to each of our own families. One special tradition I love is the passing on of heirloom items (a valuable object that has belonged to a family for several generations).
Sadly I had a falling out with my family over a decade ago and I have nothing but a few photos that my Grandma gave to me. She had to break it to me that my mother and father destroyed all my precious heirlooms, items, and photos from when I was growing up.
It was hard to hear that, but I believe in even the worst of situations, that there is always a glimmer of hope.
I remembered that my Grandma Donna had taught me one summer how to make heirloom teddy bears and it hit me! So I spent months perfecting a pattern very similar to hers, found the best quality fabrics and components, and made sure to build/make the teddy bears so they would last for many generations to come.
I decided that if I wasn't able to have my heirloom items and memories from growing up, then I would be the one to help create something to then give other families the opportunity to start there own.
I hope that one day you or your loved one will be holding your teddy and nothing but beautiful memories will be flooding your soul <3!
